What does a child learn in Year 4 maths?
In Year 4 a child works with four-digit numbers, rounds to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000 and counts back through zero. All multiplication tables up to 12 × 12 should be known, and two- and three-digit numbers are multiplied by one digit in a written layout. Decimals to hundredths appear next to fractions, and the child converts units, finds area by counting squares, classifies triangles and quadrilaterals, completes symmetric figures and plots points in the first quadrant.
