What does a child learn in Year 8 maths?
In Year 8 a child rounds to significant figures, solves equations with the unknown on both sides and draws straight-line graphs from their equation, reading the gradient and the intercept. Percentage increase and decrease, reverse percentages and ratio problems become routine. The child finds volumes of prisms and cylinders, uses Venn diagrams to count sets, works out probabilities and describes the relationship shown on a scatter graph.
