What does a child learn in Year 2 maths?
In Year 2 a child works with numbers to 100: the place value of tens and ones, comparing with <, > and =, and adding and subtracting two-digit numbers mentally. The 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables arrive, together with odd and even numbers. The child names fractions such as one third and three quarters, measures in metres, kilograms and litres, combines pounds and pence, tells the time to five minutes and reads pictograms, tally charts and simple tables.
