What does a child learn in Year 1 maths?
In Year 1 a child counts to and across 100, forwards and backwards, and counts in twos, fives and tens. Addition and subtraction start with number bonds within 20 and simple one-step problems, including missing number problems. The child finds a half and a quarter of a shape or a quantity, compares and measures lengths, masses and capacities, recognises coins and notes, and tells the time to the hour and half past.
