Tasks outside the curriculum: what other countries teach
Curricula differ more than you might think. Pie charts are a normal grade 7 topic in Germany, Austria and Spain, while other curricula leave them out. Venn diagrams appear in English secondary schools, and bearings — a direction in degrees from north — are in several upper secondary curricula.
Where to find them
Pick your grade in the generator. At the end of the list of task types there is a group called “Outside the curriculum — extra tasks”. Each task shows which countries teach it in this grade. The same list is on the grade page, below the curriculum templates.
What they are good for
- maths clubs and students who want more than the curriculum,
- students who moved from another school system and already know the topic,
- a glimpse of how maths is taught elsewhere.
What does not change
The extra tasks are free, like the whole catalogue. They never mix with your curriculum topics: ready-made unit tests and reviews use only tasks from your grade’s curriculum. Numbers, answer key and step-by-step solution are computed by the maths engine, as in every other task.
